The noise in January can be loud and overbearing with the ‘new year new you’ trends. Over the last year, we’ve seen a range of these wellness trends, from the protein craze to creatine gummies, as well as longevity and anti-aging.
One trend that has been rapidly rising in popularity is biohacking. Biohacking involves highly personalised tracking and optimisation of a person’s health data. Think blood glucose monitoring, sleep quality score, calories burnt and exercise performance. This has a huge appeal for individuals to understand their own body in more depth.
While biohacking can be helpful to tailor wellness routines to our bodies and lifestyles, it can also result in health perfectionism and anxiety from constant tracking.
Instead, this year we want to encourage you to shift from biohacking to bioharmony - where wellness looks like listening to your body’s cues, moving with intuition, and avoiding rigid rules associated with food. Why is this important? Because it's more realistic, practical and sustainable…a quiet rebellion against the cultural undercurrent (burnout, productivity pressure, pushing limits).
A big part of this bioharmony movement is to move away from treating the body in isolated parts to treating it like an ecosystem. Much like the gut microbiome. The gut microbiome is a living, adaptive community, constantly responding to what we eat, how we sleep, how we move and the levels of stress we carry. It thrives on balance, diversity and rhythm, not aggressive interventions or quick fixes. You can’t force an ecosystem into health; you can only create the conditions that allow it to flourish.
In this way, the gut microbiome becomes a metaphor and a model. It reminds us that health is relational and responsive, shaped by our daily choices and environment. Bioharmony extends this mindset beyond the gut, inviting a softer, more cooperative relationship with the body, one rooted in trust, balance and slowness rather than control and numbers.
Wellness may feel quieter and sprinkled with a bit more of a human touch, with a focus on social and community wellness spaces, digital detoxes, brain health and cognition. Bioharmony embraces these gentle, life-integrated practices, showing us that true health is nurtured through steady, thoughtful choices that honour our natural pace and the way we live each day. This could be:
Taking intentional breaks from devices e.g., phone-free mornings or evenings, to support focus and nervous system regulation.
Meeting a friend for a walk, class, or coffee as a way to move, connect, and reset at the same time.
Prioritising habits that support cognition and brain health, such as consistent sleep times, taking quiet breaks or learning something new to challenge your mind.
Listening to your energy levels and choosing rest or movement based on how you actually feel that day.
Spending time and engaging in wellness spaces that feel social and restorative. Offering group practices such as breath work, sound therapy, guided rest or slow, mindful movement.
In practice, making small, repeatable choices is a great place to start working towards your health goals for the year ahead. If one of your 2026 goals is improving your gut health, achieving 30g of fibre a day isn’t always realistic. Myota’s prebiotic fibre blends offer an easy way to help bridge the gap. Each scoop provides 10g of fibre to support your gut microbiome, fitting effortlessly into daily routines without adding complexity or pressure.
