What’s myota?
Tailored fibre blends that improve your gut and overall health by helping your gut microbiome produce more short chain fatty acids (SCFAs). Single fibre mixes only work on a small portion of the population – and every microbiome ferments fibre differently. That’s why we create specific fibre blends and test them on hundreds of microbiome samples. Making sure everyone’s gut can ferment our fibre to produce the right SCFAs for their health goals.
Who’s myota for?
Anyone who wants to improve their metabolic, immune or mental health, or soothe digestive problems like constipation, bloating and diarrhoea. myota provides benefits for all stages of life - for children who are fussy eaters, for those going through pregnancy, breastfeeding or menopause, or anyone who wants to optimise their health and longevity. For children under the age of 12, we recommend half a scoop (2-3g/day).
How do I use myota?
There are lots of ways to take your daily scoop. Add it to smoothies. Stir it into yoghurt. Sprinkle on your morning muesli. Add it to your morning coffee or tea. Our fibre comes as a flavourless powder so you can easily dissolve it into food, and hot or cold drinks.
How much and when should I take my myota?
You can take your myota any time of the day or night, so choose whatever time works best for you and your daily routine. We recommend taking 10g (one scoop) of myota a day. You can start with this amount right away, or work up to it slowly (starting with half a scoop) to allow your body time to adjust. Constipation can be a sign that you have started with too much too soon, but this is easily adjusted by reducing your serving and drinking plenty of water.
How quickly will I notice the effects of taking myota?
Some people experience the benefits after a few days, while others will take a bit longer. This is because we all have very unique bodies and different types of gut bacteria. To get the most from your myota blend, the most important part is remaining consistent with your daily myota scoop. And remember, while you may not experience anything at first, your gut bacteria are loving the extra fuel!
What research is myota currently conducting?
myota’s scientists are continuously leading new research projects. At our lab in Switzerland, we perform rigorous testing of hundreds of types of fibre, including their fermentability in the gut, heat sensitivity, texture, taste, and ability to produce short-chain-fatty-acids in different people. We use this research to develop and refine our products, and to ensure our existing combinations continue to be as effective as possible. We are also conducting multiple clinical trials in the UK, both ourselves and in partnership with the NHS. We look forward to publishing the results of these in 2023.
How do I purchase myota?

Who are the scientists behind myota?
Dr Thomas Gurry and Dr Caitlin Hall are specialists in the field of the gut microbiome and hold PhDs in computational biology and the gut-brain axis from MIT and King’s College London. You can read some of their published research on Our Science page.
What is the difference between a prebiotic (like myota)
and a probiotic?
Probiotics are the live microorganisms that are suggested to deliver benefits to human health. Prebiotics are the food for our existing gut bacteria that are proven to deliver health benefits by producing short-chain-fatty-acids (SCFAs). Probiotics are effective for a small number of conditions, like antibiotic-induced diarrhoea and travel infections. But even then, taking the right strain of probiotic doesn’t guarantee it will work for you. Probiotics have very short term effects on gut health - most of the bacteria don’t survive the journey to the intestine (less than 5% make it). This is in contrast to prebiotics (like myota), which are the food for your existing gut bacteria. myota fuels your good gut bacteria by giving them the right blend of fibres they need to flourish and multiply. As a result, your gut bacteria are able to produce SCFAs that help to prevent chronic disease and improve long term health and wellbeing. In short, we feed our gut bacteria their favourite food, and they keep us healthy in return.
What’s myota made from?
Fruits. Grains. Vegetables. We extract our fibres from a variety of sources and test them individually for their ability to produce SCFAs in the microbiomes of different people. The exact makeup depends on the blend you choose. All of our blends are certified gluten free and vegetarian. Our Gut Booster is also lactose free, vegan, and low FODMAP, and our Immunity Booster is lactose free and vegan.
Can I take myota if I’m on medication?
Absolutely. Our blends are made from real food, so you won’t need to change a thing.
Can I take myota if I’m pregnant, breastfeeding or on my period?
Yes. Our fibre blends are safe during pregnancy, breastfeeding and your period. In fact, they can help with the constipation, bloating and diarrhoea that are often associated with women’s health.
Can I purchase myota if I’m outside the UK?
Yes, we currently ship to a number of international countries. If you can't see your country during checkout, please email info@myotahealth.com with any special requests and we will try our best to accommodate them.
How can I speak with one of myota’s dietitians?
Everyone who purchases a Microbiome Test Kit will have the opportunity to speak with our dietitians, free of charge. During these sessions you can discuss your gut microbiome results, learn more about myota fibre blends, and receive personalised recommendations to get your health and nutrition back on track.
Why do I need a blend of fibres?
No two microbiomes are alike. Each one needs different fibres in varying amounts to produce enough short chain fatty acids. That’s why our blends include the right mix of fibres for different types of gut.
Is myota a prebiotic or a probiotic?
myota is a fibre blend that contains prebiotics fibres. Prebiotics are specific types of fibres that can be fermented by our gut bacteria to produce SCFAs. Not all fibres are prebiotics. In our Gut regulator mix, we have lower proportions of prebiotic fibres to ensure the blend is low in FODMAPs. Of the prebiotics we do include in the Gut regulator, they are slowly fermented along the entire length of the gut which doesn’t result in rapid bloating and gas for people with sensitive tummies.
What's myota free from?
All of our fibre blends are 100% natural, non-GMO, preservative-free, gluten-free, and contain no colouring. The Gut Booster and Immunity Booster are also lactose-free and vegan (the Metabolic Booster contains traces of lactose). The Gut Booster is a low FODMAP certified product.
What is myota's Gut Microbiome Test Kit?
Your gut is home to trillions of microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and archaea, collectively known as the gut microbiome. You can think of your gut like a factory. In the same way that workers turn raw material into different products, our gut bacteria break-down foods to produce a number of different substances, including hormones, vitamins, antioxidants, and chemicals. There is a strong link between the substances produced by the gut microbiome and your overall health, from digestion and metabolic health, through to immunity and brain function. Given this link, you can begin to understand how testing your gut microbiome gives us important insights into your health. Based on the results from your gut microbiome test, you can make informed decisions to improve the diversity and restore balance in your gut. For example, some people have gut microbiome’s that can only produce short chain fatty acids (SCFAs - an important anti-inflammatory substance) from very specific types of fibre. Your report tells you which types of fibres are best for your gut bacteria to restore healthy levels of SCFAs.
How is myota's Gut Microbiome Test Kit different to others on the market?
Conventional microbiome tests, currently available on the market, mainly focus on telling you which types of gut bacteria you have. That’s good information. But our test goes a step further. Your gut is your body’s main engine room, which is fuelled by fibre. So what you really want to know is how good your gut bacteria are at turning the fibre you eat into short chain fatty acids (SCFAs). SCFAs play an integral role in almost all aspects of gut and human health, so knowing how to make more of them is a game-changer to you and your health. Our Gut Microbiome Test Kit is the first and only one that can tell you this. We help you understand how your gut bacteria breakdown different types of fibre to produce health-promoting short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). Based on this, we provide personalised food recommendations using our patented technology to improve your overall health and wellbeing.
What will my gut microbiome report tell me?
With myota’s gut microbiome test kit, you’ll discover: a) How diverse your gut microbiome is, and how this compares to the general population. b) Which specific types of gut bacteria you have, and the role they play in your health. c) And most importantly, how good your gut bacteria are at producing important substances called SCFAs, and what you can eat to help them produce more. Based on your microbiome sample, we use our patented technology to provide you with personalised fibre-rich food recommendations that will improve your digestive, metabolic, immune, and brain health.
