PHGG

Partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG) is a prebiotic fibre derived from guar beans. PHGG promotes the growth of beneficial gut bacteria without inducing bloating or gas. It is best known for its role in relieving constipation, diarrhoea, and bloating for those with sensitive tummies. Through its role in relieving gut symptoms and promoting Short-Chain Fatty Acids, PHGG has been linked to increased quality of life.

Gluten Free Wheat fibre

Wheat fibre comes from the cell walls of the wheat grain. It contains arabinoxylans that help create softer, bulkier stools that are easier to pass. Our wheat fibre is suitable for those with coeliac disease (certified gluten-free).

Gluten Free Oat fibre

Oat fibre comes from the outer shell of the oat grain. Oat contains both soluble and insoluble fibres, helping to improve constipation, abdominal pain and bloating. Oat fibre also contains beta-glucan, a powerhouse fibre with beneficial effects on blood cholesterol levels. Our oat fibre is suitable for those with coeliac disease (certified gluten-free).

Guar gum

Guar gum comes from the seed of the guar plant. It's a soluble and viscous (gel-forming) fibre that normalises the moisture content of stool, helping to absorb excess water in diarrhoea, and soften stools in constipation.

Cellulose

Cellulose is derived from the cell walls of plant-based foods. Cellulose is known to be particularly beneficial at promoting bowel function and regularity.

*The & Daily Value (DV) tells you how much nutrient in a serving of food contributes to a daily diet. 2,000 calories a day is used for general nutritional advice. Calculated using dietary reference values for an average adult publishes by European Food Safety Authority.

Start with half a scoop a day (5g) for 7 days, then gradually build up to a full scoop (10g) per day.

This gives your microbiome time to adjust to the increase in fibre. You might notice some changes to your digestion when you first get started. This should settle after a few days, but if not, just lower your dose until your gut is ready to build up again.

We recommend taking your myota at the same time each day to help your body get into a rhythm and make sure you stay hydrated.

As it's a flavourless powder, you can have it dissolved in water or in any of your favourite foods or hot or cold drinks. Whatever works best with your routine.

Gut symptoms, like painful gas and bloating, are often really tricky to resolve.

Some of these symptoms are triggered by foods that are high in rapidly fermented short-chain carbohydrates, known as FODMAPs (fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharides, and polyols – it’s a mouthful, we know). While restricting high FODMAP foods can provide relief to those with sensitive tummies, it often negatively impacts the health of the gut microbiome. Opposed to rapidly fermented fibres that produce a lot of gas in a short amount of time, people with these symptoms may benefit from longer-chain fibres that are slowly fermented in the colon. These fibres are more gentle on the gut, relieves gas and bloating, and supports the health of our gut bacteria.

Your burning questions, answered.

If you have a question that isn’t answered in our FAQs then please get in touch and let us know.

What’s myota?

Tailored fibre blends that improve your gut and overall health by helping your gut microbiome produce more short chain fatty acids (SCFAs). Single fibre mixes only work on a small portion of the population – and every microbiome ferments fibre differently. That’s why we create specific fibre blends and test them on hundreds of microbiome samples. Making sure everyone’s gut can ferment our fibre to produce the right SCFAs for their health goals.

Who’s myota for?

Anyone who wants to improve their metabolic, immune or mental health, or soothe digestive problems like constipation, bloating and diarrhoea. myota provides benefits for all stages of life - for children who are fussy eaters, for those going through pregnancy, breastfeeding or menopause, or anyone who wants to optimise their health and longevity. For children under the age of 12, we recommend half a scoop (2-3g/day).

How do I use myota?

There are lots of ways to take your daily scoop. Add it to smoothies. Stir it into yoghurt. Sprinkle on your morning muesli. Add it to your morning coffee or tea. Our fibre comes as a flavourless powder so you can easily dissolve it into food, and hot or cold drinks.

How much and when should I take myota?

You can take your myota any time of the day or night, so choose whatever time works best for you and your daily routine. We recommend taking 10g (one scoop) of myota a day. You can start with this amount right away, or work up to it slowly (starting with half a scoop) to allow your body time to adjust. Constipation can be a sign that you have started with too much too soon, but this is easily adjusted by reducing your serving and drinking plenty of water.

How quickly will I notice the effects of taking myota?

Some people experience the benefits after a few days, while others will take a bit longer. This is because we all have very unique bodies and different types of gut bacteria. To get the most from your myota blend, the most important part is remaining consistent with your daily myota scoop. And remember, while you may not experience anything at first, your gut bacteria are loving the extra fuel!

What research is myota currently conducting?

myota’s scientists are continuously leading new research projects. At our lab in Switzerland, we perform rigorous testing of hundreds of types of fibre, including their fermentability in the gut, heat sensitivity, texture, taste, and ability to produce short-chain-fatty-acids in different people. We use this research to develop and refine our products, and to ensure our existing combinations continue to be as effective as possible. We are also conducting multiple clinical trials in the UK, both ourselves and in partnership with the NHS. We look forward to publishing the results of these in 2023.

What is myota free from*?

All of our fibre blends are 100% natural, non-GMO, preservative-free, gluten-free, and contain no colouring. The Gut Booster and Immunity Booster are also lactose-free and vegan (the Metabolic Booster contains traces of lactose). The Gut Booster is a low FODMAP certified product.

How does your 30 day money back guarantee work?

We’re confident that you’re going to love our blends. But if you’ve decided myota isn’t right for you, let us know within 30 days of your purchase and we’ll refund you the full purchase. If you have purchased a 3-month pack, we will ask you to return your remaining un-opened blends for a full refund (shipping not included). For more details, head to our Terms and Conditions.
