AT-HOME BLOOD TEST

How do the at-home blood tests work?

The at-home blood tests are simple and non-invasive. You’ll collect a small blood sample from a finger prick using provided lancets. The process takes about 10-15 minutes, but we recommend putting 30 minutes aside, especially if it’s your first time. The sample is then sent back to our lab for analysis. After receiving your sample, we will process the results and provide you with an in-depth health report. The tests track vital markers of your metabolic health, including cholesterol, blood glucose, and inflammation, giving you key insights into your overall health.

Are the blood tests easy to do at home?

Yes, the tests are designed to be simple and user-friendly. You’ll receive clear instructions and access to a video guide that walks you through each step of the process, from setting up the test kit to taking your blood sample. Most people find the process straightforward and quick.

Does the finger-prick test hurt?

The finger prick test may cause a brief, mild discomfort, similar to a small pinch. However, the amount of blood taken is minimal, and most people find it much less painful than a venous blood draw.

Do I need to fast before taking the blood test?

Yes, you should fast for at least 8 hours before taking the blood test. We recommend doing this overnight, so you can take the test first thing in the morning, before breakfast. Drink plenty of water the night before and the morning of the test. Black coffee (no sugar or milk) is also fine to consume before the test.

What are some other tips to help me collect my blood sample?

In the lead up to your blood test, we provide you with detailed instructions and a video on how to collect your sample.
Other tips include staying well hydrated the day before the test; increasing circulation to your hands by soaking them in warm water for 5 minutes and raising your heart rate through moving around; exercising before; taking a hot shower; and drinking 1-2 glasses of water 30 minutes before the test.

How long does it take to collect my sample?

Collecting your sample should take around 10-15 minutes. However if it’s your first time, we recommend leaving about 30 minutes to ensure you have plenty of time to read the instructions, collect the sample, and complete the process carefully.

How long does it take to receive my blood test results?

Results are typically available within 10-14 business days after your sample is received at the lab. You’ll receive an email notification when your results are ready.

There is an issue with my kit, - how do I raise this with myota?

If this is an issue with the kit or the components then please raise this to myota via the support email. myota kits undergo rigorous quality checks, however if there is a reported issue myota will escalate this to the supplier.

Is there scientific evidence that this program works?

Yes, the Health Plan is based on our clinical research supporting the benefits of prebiotic fibre for improving metabolic health, blood glucose (sugar) levels, and lowering cholesterol. You can read about myota’s clinical trials on the Our Science page.

What results have people seen after completing the Health Plan?

Results from our clinical trial in people with prediabetes demonstrated significant improvements in HbA1c (blood glucose control) after 4 months of taking myota daily. We have also shown significant reductions in CRP (inflammation), blood pressure, and mental wellbeing after 3 months of taking myota daily. But the effects of the Health Plan can be experienced much earlier. When taking myota with a meal, our study showed that you can reduce your blood sugar spikes by up to 28%, resulting in balanced blood sugars, feelings of fullness, and reduced cravings. After 4 weeks of taking myota, results from over 263 people showed that 93% of people experienced more regular bowel movements, 80% felt less bloated, 80% had less diarrhoea/loose stools, and 74% had less tummy pain. Can I pay for the Health Plan in installments?

Unfortunately, we do not offer payment plans at this time. The full payment is due upon purchase.

What is your refund policy?

If you’re not completely satisfied with the Health Plan, please contact us within 30 days of purchase, and we’ll work with you to resolve the issue or offer a refund. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds on any of the test kits.

In fact, the Health Plan was specifically designed with these conditions in mind, based on results from our clinical trials. LOGISTICS

When will I receive my Health Plan?

You will receive your first 3 months of fibre blends and first blood test kit within 3-5 working days after purchasing the Health Plan. Your second shipment containing the final 3 months of myota and final blood test kid will be sent halfway through the Health Plan.

How long are the blood test kits good for?

The blood test kits are typically valid for 12 months. Be sure to complete the test within this timeframe for the best accuracy.

What if I miss a day of myota?

If you miss a day, there’s no need to stress - life gets in the way sometimes! Simply continue with your usual routine the next day.

What happens if I don’t complete my blood test in time?

If you miss your scheduled blood test, please contact us as soon as possible. Completing the test on time ensures you can track your progress accurately.

RESULTS ACCOUNT SET-UP

How to set up set-up your account?

After you have registered your first blood test kit, you will receive an email asking you to set up your account for your results portal. This will ask you to create a password and then you can access your dashboard. If you haven't received an email, please check your spam and then contact myota via kit-support@myotahealth.com if you are still unable to find it.

Can I change my email address?

If you need to change or modify your email address please contact kit-support@myotahealth.com with this issue and we will be able to change or check it.

How do I reset my password?

If you’ve forgotten your password when logging in, you can easily reset it from the account login page and follow the reset pathway. You will be prompted to enter your email address, and then you will receive an email containing instructions on how to reset your password.

I have made an error in my date of birth- how can I change it?

We are unable to modify the name and DOB of a customer once an order is submitted. This is due to the safeguarding process implemented at our partner laboratory to ensure Clinical Governance and safety controls. In case of incorrect details, the order will have to be re-submitted with the correct information, and the you will need to complete the sample corresponding to the correct order.
It is crucial to ensure that the name and DOB are accurate on the order as they are used to verify the sample submitted to the lab. The name and DOB on the return form must match the details on the order. If they do not match, the sample will be discarded.

I have made an error in my address- how can I change it?

We are unable to modify address details once the order is submitted. The reason for this is that to minimise time to receive the your kit, we make sure we fulfill orders as soon as possible and the order details are processed immediately. Pleasure resubmit the order with the correct address.

I want to cancel my blood test - what can I do?

We encourage you to proceed with setting up your account, especially if you plan to order a test in the future. There are no negative consequences to creating an account. However, please note that you will still receive a kit even if you have attempted to cancel the order with us, as the we submit orders immediately for fulfilment. In such cases, we advise to dispose of the kit and not complete the test.

KIT DELIVERY AND RETURN

How do I track my kit’s delivery status?

You can track the delivery status of your kit using the tracking code provided in the email confirming that the kit has been dispatched, as well as on the your portal homepage.
By clicking on the tracking code link, they will be redirected to the Royal Mail tracking page. Please note that if the kit has not yet been scanned by Royal Mail, there may not be any tracking data visible on the Royal Mail website.

How do I know if the kit has arrived at the lab?

You will be notified when the sample is received at the lab via email and you will also be able to view that your sample’s progress on the portal.

It has taken more than two working days for kit to arrive at the lab — what should I do?

If this is the case, please be reassured that samples remain viable for 8 x days after collection. You will be notified when your sample has reached the lab. If it has been 8 x days or more, please contact kit-support@myotahealth.com

BLOOD TEST RESULTS QUERIES

I have received a ‘mismatched’ failed result. What can I do?

If the sample is ‘mismatched’ this is due to the name or date of birth on the order not matching what has been written on the return form returned with the sample.
If the name is abbreviated for example ‘Fred’ instead of ‘Frederick’, this will still be regarded as a mismatch by the lab and will be discarded. Please use the name and date of birth that you have signed up for the account with.

My results have come back with an unknown error. What do I do?

If the failure reason doesn’t fit into one of the above categories or the error message is very generic (e.g. “something went wrong”), please contact your support email quoting the error messages you have received, what page you have tried to access and what steps you followed to get there. If it is possible, please also provide the URL and a screenshot of the issue page, this also helps the myota team speed up the investigation.
