Our science

Setting the standard in gut health

Scientific research and clinical evidence are at the heart of everything we do. Why? Because your gut is worth more than guesswork.

Our fibre blends are based on over a decade of research at MIT and developed by our in-house team of gut microbiome scientists and dietitians. Our unique formulations are patent-protected, so you won't find them anywhere else. They're extensively tested, clinically proven and trusted by NHS clinicians.

We're so confident in the power of our blends that we've invested over a million pounds in clinical trials.

The results are there to read for yourself — including where the evidence is strong and where we're still building it. No gimmicks. No empty promises. Just data you can trust. Our in-vivo studies have been peer-reviewed and published in renowned journals — and leading universities and gut-health clinics choose myota as their research partner.

28%

reduction in blood sugar levels when taking myota with a meal.

Myota fibre reduces blood sugar spikes

Flattening the post-meal glucose curve — steadier energy, and fuller for longer, without anything harsh on your gut.

Clinical evidence

Our own blends, tested in human trials

Most fibre supplements combine common ingredients and lean on the general evidence for fibre. We go further — running randomised, placebo-controlled trials on our specific formulations, then publishing the results in peer-reviewed journals.

Published FLORA · NCT05593926

Fibre supplements for pre-diabetes

A 24-week randomised, placebo-controlled trial in 66 adults with pre-diabetes, taking 20g of our prebiotic blend daily. Compared with placebo, HbA1c, insulin sensitivity, fasting insulin and C-reactive protein all improved significantly, without changes to diet or lifestyle. Published in the British Journal of Nutrition.

Published PRIME · NCT06216626

Prebiotic intervention for metabolic & mental health

A 12-week randomised controlled trial in 60 adults with metabolic syndrome, taking 10g of our prebiotic blend daily. Inflammation (hs-CRP) fell, gut microbiome composition shifted, and sub-clinical stress, anxiety and depression scores improved. Published in the British Journal of Nutrition.

Completed PRECOG · NCT06911957

Prebiotic fibre, cognition and mood in older adults

A pilot double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial in 50 healthy adults aged 60-75 with mild to moderate subjective cognitive complaints, taking 10g of a prebiotic fibre blend daily for 12 weeks. Outcomes covered overall and domain-specific cognitive performance, depression and anxiety symptoms, gut symptoms, blood pressure, body measurements and microbiome diversity.

Completed BiomeBakery · NCT06796712

Prebiotic-fortified bakery products in older adults

A randomised controlled trial at the University of Reading, funded by Innovate UK and BBSRC, testing a bakery product enriched with our prebiotic fibre blend in older adults. Outcomes cover cognition, mood, inflammation and metabolic health. Results are in preprint.

Recruiting CALM · NCT07201909

Can a prebiotic fibre blend improve stress, mood and anxiety?

A 12-week double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in healthy adults with mild to severe stress, testing whether a daily prebiotic fibre blend lowers perceived stress. Secondary measures cover mood, inflammation and the gut microbiome.

Recruiting BALANCE · NCT07477470

Prebiotic fibre and affect, inflammation and cognition

A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial examining the effect of a daily prebiotic fibre blend on stress, with secondary outcomes across depression, mood, anxiety, cognition, inflammation and the gut microbiome.

Our clinical evidence base is genuine but still young. Established fibres like psyllium are backed by decades of independent trials — we're building that depth now, with an active pipeline and independent replication as the goal.

The research doesn't stop at our founding.

Our roots are in a decade of microbiome research — but the work is ongoing. We have registered trials, both completed and in progress, studying metabolism, blood sugar regulation, inflammation and mental-health outcomes, and we reformulate as new evidence emerges. Science is our operating system, not a founding story.

The science behind the benefits

Fibre & chronic inflammation

The short-chain fatty acid butyrate has a key role in reducing inflammation and preventing inflammation-associated diseases.

Transparency

What's in it — and how we're tested

You should know exactly what you're consuming. We name every fibre in our blends and are honest about where our quality transparency is strong and where we're still improving.

A proprietary blend, named ingredients

Our proprietary blend combines natural fibres in a unique way, designed to work across different microbiome compositions. This maximises short-chain fatty acid (postbiotic) production — the first fibre blend to do this, which is why it's patent-protected. We name every component fibre: FOS, inulin, resistant dextrin, resistant maltodextrin, partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG) and guar gum.

Clear free-from & certification status

Vegan (where applicable), gluten-free, non-GMO and preservative-free. Our Gut Health blend is Monash University Low FODMAP Certified™.

Tested and manufactured to high standards

Our blends are extensively tested through production, including gluten-free, contaminant and heavy-metal testing. We're committed to going further on public quality transparency — publishing batch-level certificates of analysis.
